Sardar Patel’s Significant Contributions to Farmers
1. Kheda Satyagraha (1918)
- Led a movement to secure land revenue relief for farmers facing financial difficulties due to crop failure.
- United farmers against unjust land revenue collection.
- Strongly presented farmers’ issues and demands before the government.
2. Bardoli Satyagraha (1928)
- The British government had increased land revenue by 22%.
- Sardar Patel led the farmers in opposing this increase.
- He united and organized farmers through unity and the path of non-violence.
- Eventually, the government was forced to withdraw its decision to increase land revenue.
- Following this movement, he was given the title of “Sardar.”
3. Unity and Awareness Among Farmers
- Inspired farmers to raise their voices for their rights.
- Taught them to stand united and fight against injustice.
